Visual Indication of Resource Node Supply
Low priority, obv. Though it is frustrating, and KILLS immersion when a tree tells you it has no wood left.

Easiest:  Have nodes disappears when empty.  Respawn after a time when no one is within 100 meters. (For fish, have 10-poly fish flit about beneath the surface?)

Hardest: Whack resources until they break into lootable chunks. Trees cut down then cut up, boulders smashed apart, etc.  Respawn/accumulate over time

(Passive vs active harvest options that make it worth it?)

Heh. I suppose there's not much of a middle ground.
