Christ, +15 years and somehow ROA and DND still managed to pull some thousand of interested people in, yet here you guys are moaning there's a population problem ?

There's never been a population problem, Darkfall will retain its loyal and niche playerbase, simply because there isn't anything else like it on the market, and won't likely be in this modern world trending towards Generation KittyBear Entitlement x1000...!!

We'll likely all grow old and gray together before anything close ever comes out.

So, better start spreading the love amongst ourselves folks, it's all we'll ever get in this life.

Maybe they should shrink the map so it feels larger. Just cut out the main islands and have everyone live on the mainland. Once it hits a certain population open the islands up.

Why turn off the islands, people are not forced to go there.

If they want to go off into no mans land let them.

Another thread that needs deletion. It's just spreading untruths.

@BobbyJoe , @dariobrun and @Oriphus are all correct. We cannot reveal numbers or have an online active count.
Our numbers might be good for a Darkfall relaunch, but they break the expectations of what gamers are used to when thinking of player counts.
Any trends will spiral into paranoia or be an endless interpretation war.

All we can say is that the numbers are above what we aimed for, and should growth continue as is, we're looking at long term sustainability.
That's a purely business point of view, but it is what matters the most. We can continue working on the game as we have up until now.

This means that we are just at the start of the game's life cycle.
Some of the bigger gambles we took have worked out well, others not so well. There are issues we still need to fix we were the first to say we had to, mainly around crafting, the loot tables and racial war related issues, but we have people having fun and enjoying their time in the game for now.
That's a great beginning for our first shipped game.

With today's patch, we've stabilized the experience a bit more, and we'll have real content addition started on.

Does this mean you plan on making another game at some point?

The narrative of enforcing this on the people through comms is idiotic and implies we're sheeple. No. We're from AGON.
Don't take forums seriously; Astroturfing is real, and has ruined the freedoms of speeches we share online.

My perception is that population has stabilized, any decline from the first week is people over-dosing and burning themselves out to try to gain an early competitive advantage in character/clan/city progress.

If anything, I have seen a small increase in population.
Not a lot, but noticeable, both in town and cross country.
Could be just timing though.

Yesterday was the most action packed day since launch, just saying.

There may be a slow leak of players on one end but a slow gain on the other and overall the pop is pretty darn stable, more so than I think anyone expected.
