Discussion: Combat balance in 3.9
Greetings, this thread will be dedicated to discussing some of the balancing aspect of this new patch.

Some of the questions where we need the most feedback are:
- Look out for Destroyer, the perk may now be an issue. We're prepared to remove it promptly should it be needed.
- Encumbrance of items may need to be looked at. Perhaps front load its impact? Remove the armored archery/magic/proficiency?
- Helmet balances: Hoods are statistically balanced, but may be less interesting than wearing a helmet. Opinions?

Of course, we're looking for any other kind of feedback or testing reports.
Have fun!

It costs reagent(s) to turn buffs off.

Yes, that is on purpose. We want to keep an opportunity cost for activating/deactivating buffs, both at the in fight but out of fight level.

what ill be made (balanced) to avoid the meta-buffs (seems logical ppl pick always the same ones like... hasten, fire, arrow and stone skin)

Having cooldowns on buffs after activating seems a bit too much considering both activating and deactivating cost mana / reagents. Removing the cooldown would allow for on the fly tactical buff swapping.

Hasten spells make all spells cast cost more mana, and also reduces mana regen.
Stoneskin has three effects so count as 3 self buffs.

For fire and arrow, we expect them to be more situational once titles and other schools are becoming mroe balanced, with people hot swapping depending on opponent.
They all still reduces mana regen by around 1/3rd, depending on your Focus skill level.

We really want it to "lock you in" when you make a choice, to have some permanence in the fight.
As an example, when you deactivate a protection buff, your opponent would know that for a little while, you are vulnerable to that type of damage.

No one can use buff anymore to play with.
Think a new player to farm with no buffs.
U completely destroy the buff system like that,
Cant even make mage farm anymore cause no mana regeneration.
Make fixes A.S.A.P

If that's the case you might as well remove it. Noone in their right mind will use it.

Using extravagant robes, at lvl 75 tailoring, you are mana neutral and slightly regenerate with stoneskin.
Everything above that gives your more regen. In essence, you are trading long duration in a fight to be killed less quickly.

But note also that your transfers and heals are buffed, so your overall regen is actually increased if you stay on top of your stats.
Slow and medium staves are also buffed, so that will impact your regen and resources efficiency too.

Do the armor regenerations stack with food?

@bubbagump
It isn't flat but depends on the spell and the level of hasten spells. The curve is designed so that it is always worth leveling your hasten spells but the cost remains somewhat proportional to the speed increase.

@fitteslim
Yes, the armor regeneration stacks with food.
It actually modifies your base+focus regen.
