General Discussion / Re: RISE OF AGON
Looks like a lot of the players from DND have gone over. (the 20 of us that were playing) DJ's even got his botched little horde running about with no holding and spamming global chat.

The game is all we got at this point and its pretty good.

Anyone needing your darkfall fix give it a shot

i can only pray that ivar is playing

(lol)

Rise of Agon is total dogshit with ~maybe~ 100 active players. Not the steaming pile of nuclear shit that Atlas is, but still. Your buttboy SueBK holding your hand in that? I'm touched you thought of me since its been what? almost a year since we would have even been in the same comm's? Still dont remember who you are.  :'(

The bank rarely takes over ownership, so Yes Im sure as its "your" house, but pledged to the bank if you defaults. If bank took ovnership the process wouldt be foreclosures.
So you insist that bank could sell the house while it is still yours? Ridiculous.

Literally happens all the time. Jesus dude, get out side. Maybe that was just bad sarcasim?

And once Ub3rgames went through liquidation, the officer assigned by the company handling the liquidation replaces all company officers so Marc doesn't currently own or "run" or have any power over what Ub3rgames, the server, or anything connected to New dawn..its over kids. Move the fuck on for crists sake.

General Discussion / Re: A True Darkfall Player
OP I should have given you the three houses I was maintaining but they are lost. I logged in Saturday pretty sure I had enough time but it was never gone - whatever lol. One of the more disappointing end to a game ive played in a while

General Discussion / Re: Here it is (rough copy-paste)
Am I the only one reading this as the license being on the table (buying "LLC") and that AV (or maybe the court?) wants to know what the buyer plans to do with the license? It is mainly the line "The buyer will have to summarize his economic project related to the purchase of the trade."

Considering that they were not allowed to speak about this document (don't get why it would be online), I have an easy time imagining the case was the same shortly after they got served and went quite. If the line above indicates that AV (or the court) wants to know how they plan to use the license I could also imagine they had a hand in the radio silence. Especially since business was to keep going until all this is done.

Kind of cool if a serious company bought this shit and made a playable game out of it, but having a real hard time interpreting the google translate.
So if I buy Ub3r, do I have to negotiate with AV again to actually run the game? Did anybody manage to get an answer for that?

As someone who works under and with gaming licenses- zero chance there isn't language written into the contract Ub3rgames signed with AV stating a laundry list of things that would cause the IP license period to revoked. Guaranteed bankruptcy liquidation is got to be one of them.

Edit - Tasos wins again lol.

General Discussion / Re: @Uber / Marc - dimwits
their lawyers won't let them talk
Must have taken them a while to find lawyers who would communicate with them via in-game tells (Marc's only method of communication).

"Marc, can you please sign the bottom of page 7...SHIT I'M GETTING PKED AGAIN"

Made me lol so hard. Best post I've seen on here in awhile.

And ya, now that we have a little 20/20- I'm guessing they launched with zero cash, never did secure a 3rd party payment collector (since that requires payment up front to start) and lost complete control in Sept. Since legally Marc would lose all LLC protections and be personally responsible for any effect he has on the cost/price of the company if he said anything that effects the game (post liquidation) he is keeping quiet.

Incredibly disappointing. Excluding the game design,  Marc made the incorrect business decision at almost every turn.

Xipos, 15k euro for a dev? annually?

Yeah that caught my eye as well. There's a few things he got incorrect.

If he's in South Korea which currently has the best internet infrastructure in the world , it's still costs you more than 15K annually for developer ( it's salary X multiplier = ?) depending where you live every employee cost you taxes, insurance ect.. even if you could get a developer at 15k salary annually which I find hard to believe. Per-employee cost adds up pretty quickly (even contracted) that's why all this development stuff is so expensive.

The IP license from adenturine to RoA and Ub3rgames is not exclusive. I know this firsthand and if you don't believe me you can contact aventurine, but they might not even respond unless you submit a proposal.

Either way, myself and a few others have been following this as well. We'll see what happens

Edit- what I'm saying is that there clearly is a path to a profitable game here.

depends if in dnds contract it allows them to transfer the license. It took ROA and DND months to solidify a contract with av id wager its quite extensive.

You wouldn't. Just buy the work Ub3games has done. License the IP, and you're good to go to do whatever you want to do. If you wanted to continue on their design which I think is actually pretty good

Xipos, 15k euro for a dev? annually?
This :D @Xipos where do you live brother? I had it in my head that you were British.

My fixed salary is ~62k € but I think Sweden might also be somewhere in the top in the EU. When I work extra it tends to be around 50€/h, when I consult it tends to be around 100-150€/h. 15k € annually sounds like a junior/mid Bosnian/Ukrainian developer.

Damn the pay in the US is so much better but I don't think I'm allowed to enter :( 110k+ $ annually wouldn't have been too bad though.
@Ivar_theBoneless
You probably can't comprehend it but 15k per year is more than any Aventurine developer ever got and more than most Greek developers get since then in Greece. That's why AV was founded in Greece and not Norway... And Greece doesn't even have the lowest salaries in Europe, just the highest unemployment.

p.s. Just checked this forum after quite a while because the anniversary is close. I can't believe people are still so active here (even if it's just for talk, lol. I thought it would be a complete desert by now...

Adventurine was able to secure a government grant, and then purchase the game from razorwax. Instead of commuting they asked the guys to just come down and live there. Had nothing to do with cost of living. 0/10

Just to bump your post that disproves Graphics have nothing to do with it at all.

Project 1999 Everquest emulated server - only up to velious, everything recreated for the old school 1999 including the players online selling in a tunnel as the only market and no boxing a second account strictly enforced.

1500 players online on a Tuesday. It's about the fucking gameplay.

General Discussion / Re: Anniversary
I noticed it gets cleared every couple days, for over a year I've made a habit of checking the forum before I login. But what use is that now, I've stopped logging in to pay taxes and all 3 defaulted (Aldenfau Keep, Zanthia Keep, Lake Cottage that was for storage), and holdings of course too. Really a shame, to think about all the hours that went into everything and that it made more sense to let go.

I guess they really wanted the nail in the coffin, doubt I'll ever play again.

Same. People were handing me their holdings but haven't played in a long time and I don't even remember if I logged in to pay the taxes.

I dont get how they walked from a semi skeleton population without a fucking word. What a waste.

Like the game we all played didn't have issues...

We could fill this forum with how bad MMOs are if you ignore the parts that keep you playing.

Oh.. btw, when things go right in Atlas...
https://youtu.be/7qyAZbC3ewE

Gets laughed at repeatedly for playing and defending Atlas. Posts a video in defense of how great Atlas pvp is....

....its a video of CSTG. The Chinese mega zerg that has been hacking, exploiting, dupping and other bullshittiery since day 1 leading the calls to region lock china players. So notorious I've heard of them and I'm not playing Atlas.

Never change pallist you dumb fuck, never change lol.

I'm not sure how many of you have started a business full of plans and hopes, and then  hit a point when you know it wont work.
Its a horrible feeling and you then go into survival\avoidance mode.

Unless he receives a government grant I cant imagine anything will change.

Congratulations to those of you that spammed constant negativity and nitpicking, you broke his spirit and once the spirit is gone its over. This game died because you wanted it to.

GTFO here with that snowflake  "they ruined my dreams with words on the internet" shit. Jesus. Marc had a brittle spirit and would lie instead of giving an answer he knew would upset people. That's a recipe for fail.

Running a company let alone one where customers interact with you online on a fairly regular basis is not for the fucking weak. If you can't handle Anonymous people online calling you a fucking idiot how are you going to handle conversations with investors and 3rd party vendors when they're calling you that to your face? They're even worse before you cut a deal, God forbid you show any signs of that stuff working you're done for.
