What do you think about road systems and movement bonus?
This is talked about in the roadmap and was thinking it would help out with creating a sense of danger for anyone transporting goods or travelling to/from spawn locations. Also it would create quicker routes to enemy territory, but also make it easier to camp entry ways or cut off groups returning home from a few ganks.

How do you guys think this will effect gameplay? Would it encourage sieges?

No

This is DND, not any other iteration of DF. Everything is slower, and more local. It is the way it is.

If the road just made me sprint without using stamina I would use roads all the time.

It would definitely increase traffic on roads.

It won't matter because this game will never have the population for these features to work on a map of this size.

Yeah I suggested right at the beginning of InDev that all roads have 3x faster move speed on a mount. That would seriously cut down travel time and also create hotspots as practically everyone would travel everywhere on roads.

I'm surprised actually that the game released without some kind of similar mechanic to complement local banking.

Is indeed a good thing, but moreover i need caravans with high weight capacity, to move stone and timber around, they are heavy and mounts can carry maximum 600 kg = 300 stone only. Stone are needed to build towns.

This.
