What features will and will not be in at launch?
There's been a lot of talk about DnD promising too many features and feature changes.  Since it is clear that not all of them will be in at launch, I'd like to know so I can pass the word along.

It is hard to make any hard promises at this point, not having completed our audit yet, so these are just estimates and should be taken with a grain of salt.
View it simply as a priority list.

For the release of InDev, nothing will be in. This will be a vanilla Darkfall in the state it was in when it got shut down.
The idea is to let people have fun breaking the game and report exploits that would have long standing impact on the game world. That way once they are fixed, we can wipe the world and have a stable Live world.

For our Live Launch, we want to have at least most of the features impacting player progression and the economy implemented.
The rest can come after launch.

Our current wishlist is:
- Skill gap fixes, like diminishing returns on skills/stats and percentage based debuffs.
- Meditation expanded and points gained on quests and no longer on gold.
- Engaged system and Alignment changes, including some of yesterday's announced features on meditation drain and Infamy.
- A first iteration of our title system so we have the time to balance it before Live launch. It will include the crafting/gathering aspect of it.
- Changes to village capture mechanics,
- Basic spawn scaling mechanics, mainly stats or wave increases, not yet Ai improvements.
- Local Banking with basic market places. Refinements will come in later, notably in the market place interfaces.

Please keep in mind that this will depend on a lot of factors regarding the code, and we may switch priorities depending on "bang for buck" ratios. If a feature is easier to implement for a large impact, it will be bumped up. Depending on our success during InDev, we'll do more or less within the same time frame.

We will keep the community updated as we learn more and get a better idea of our velocity. We'll continue our weekly news throughout InDev so that the community is always aware of our actual progress.

It would be pretty cool to have a server up of vanilla just for fun, so all of us could play on until its developed.  Am I right?

And that is why we will launch the InDev server. So that everyone can enjoy the game while we are busy working.

For the start it will be in France where we can easily access it.
Later, if necessary, we will move it to wherever the center of mass of our playerbase is, so that latency is averaged for most.
We'll try to make the best of it, and keep a single world to be populated nearly all day.

Guess with local banking you also include the supporting caravans and a ship cargo system(with different cargo amounts depending on ship)? But whats with the watchtower and new siege system, especially excited for that part of the game as it promises to be a constant source of conflict.

Watchtowers and warfronts will come as soon as possible, and we would prefer to implement them during inDev, but they can be added after a final wipe.
This is mostly what this list is: what is the strict minimum we need to do before launching the final servers?

Of course, we'll try to do as much as possible so that Live is even more of a success, but we prefer to be conservative to not let anyone down.

Local banking sounds good on paper but runs into many issues. The biggest one is players getting bored of always fighting the neighboring clans. Also players becoming lazy and not wanting to travel far from their bank.

I'd suggest localizing resources, but not banks.  This gets people out into the world, not stuck in a region of the world.

We will implement the gnome bankers specifically to counter this aspect.
Gnome bankers will manage a global gold account for the players and will charge gold transfer fees to make gold available at a new location. Moving region will be easy in a more liquid economy.

Local banking is one of the mechanics necessary to create a healthy economy. With a healthy economy, equipment and supplies will be easier to obtain by simply going to a market place with gold. So being able to purchase equipment anywhere you travel to removes a big hurdle for traveling, and in general reduces the annoyance of having to create gear bags.
It is a win-win for both travelers and sedentary players.

On a further note, while mentioning Watch Tower Mechanics. I feel that players should not be able to claim a city/hamlet holding unless they own all the Watch Towers around a player holding. That way, players will actually be able to fight for the best holdings when the game goes live. Rather than first come first serve basis.

Will patch 1 be implemented during the inDev or is that planned to go in during the beta phase?

Patch 1 is already completed and will be released with the stress test.
It is what our features team has had the time to do up until now.
