ROA Combat Changes

This is DND, not any other iteration of DF. Everything is slower, and more local. It is the way it is.

Damn the rate these boys are going, ROA is gonna end up being the game for me. Fuck the ping I'd rather have fun.

I dueled him once and was in control first half of the fight and then food buff wore out and not noticing lost, so he did win but hes by no means any better a player than I.

Wow surprised their perk system is so involved I didn't think they were going to change combat so much. I like all the stage 1 stuff they look promising and stage 2 sounds pretty good but won't know till they release more details.

RoA is really digging in with some big changes coming this year.

Rofl, they're basically going with specialisation, through traits which are basically titles.

LIGHT YEARS AHEAD. LIGHT YEARS.

It looks like a "tree" type of specs based on bonuses with a few lockouts and unlocks. Which sounds way better than the time gated horizontal option we have now. But as they mention, RoA has to look more deeply into gear to lay the foundations down... Going to be interesting seeing this implemented over the next months/year.

as long as they dont fuck with gear like dnd has and their traits dont have huge maluses and create classes like dnd has, its lightyears ahead

Wow that thread went fucking booooom. I read up quite a bit on their responses and it sounded similar to dnd/dfuw initially but actually it seems in principle very different. They will keep hybrids and instead of skill lockouts it sounds like it will be power bonuses and negatives.  DND forces diversity as skills are directly linked to titles but this system sounds like it will probably just make stuff you don't specialise in weaker instead of lockout. Oh and no time locked crap huzzah! That was my biggest beef with dnd's. Sounds like it will be similar to old dfo specs where you just pay to change them.

If they do a good job on this that means dnd will only have local banking and racial wars(rofl these are dead currently) as defining features. Hopefully they get watchtowers out at some point soon, the roadmaps are similar and roa seems to have greater velocity....
